    Soffits and fascias explained

    September 7, 20264 min read

They're the forgotten part of the roof — but soffits and fascias protect your timbers and finish the look of your home. Here's what they do.

    The roofline, explained

The fascia is the board that runs along the lower edge of the roof — it carries the gutter and the bottom row of tiles. The soffit is the board tucked underneath, between the fascia and the wall. Together they close off the roof space and protect the timbers from weather.

    Why it matters

Rotting or failing fascias let water into the roof timbers, where it can cause serious structural damage before you notice. Gaps in the soffit let birds and squirrels into the loft. A sound roofline is the difference between a roof that lasts and one that doesn't.

    uPVC vs timber

Modern uPVC roofline products are weatherproof, colour-stable and need almost no maintenance — we fit them as standard. Timber looks the part on period properties and we're happy to work with it, but it needs regular painting and upkeep.

Finishing it to a high standard

We fit and repair soffits and fascias to finish your roofline cleanly and protect your home. Properly installed, they'll look smart and stay weathertight for years — backed by our 5-year warranty on every project.
