Gutter maintenance: protecting your roof and foundation

    September 14, 20264 min read

Clogged gutters cause damp walls, rotten fascias and even foundation problems. A little maintenance goes a long way — here's what to watch for.

    The job gutters do

Gutters and down pipes carry rainwater off your roof and away from your home. When they work, you never notice. When they don't, water runs down the walls, soaks into the roof timbers and pools at the base of the property — and that's when the damage starts.

    Signs your gutters need attention

Overflowing water in the rain, plants growing out of the gutters, dark staining on the brickwork below, or a gap where a joint has come apart are all signs it's time to act. Sagging gutters mean the brackets have failed or the gutter is full of debris.

    What we install

We fit durable, low-maintenance gutter and down pipe systems designed for Leicester's rainfall. Properly sized, well-supported and sealed at every joint, so water flows away from the roof and the foundation rather than into them.

    A quick annual check

A clear-out once a year — especially in autumn when the leaves come down — keeps gutters working for years. If your gutters are past their best, we'll quote you for a replacement that won't need replacing again for a long time.
